Medical Professionals Health Program

Monitoring and Advocacy for Maine's Medical Professionals in Recovery

The Medical Professionals Health Program (MPHP) provides support and advocacy to medical professionals struggling with addiction and/or mental health challenges. The MPHP, a program of the Maine Medical Association, first began providing monitoring and advocacy services to professionals in Maine in 1987.  Since then, the program has grown in reputation and in services. It is now one of the most comprehensive professional health programs in the country.

The MPHP works cooperatively with six Maine boards of licensure, hospitals, medical staffs, and professional associations to ensure that professionals in need of treatment and services get the help they need.  The MPHP is not a treatment program, but our staff will help professionals to find the resources they need, to better understand the treatment and recovery process, and to implement strategies for return to safe practice.

Please take a moment and review our website and to find out more about how the MPHP may help you, a family member, colleague, or a professional you know get the help that they need.  If you know a Maine-licensed health professional who may be in need of help, or if you are concerned about your own health, please contact the MPHP.
